Learn how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s. Decode the verbal and behavioral messages, and identify strategies to connect and communicate. Dr. Prizaah Pratt will be our speaker. She currently teaches at Maryville University and has been an Alzheimer’s community educator since 2017. She believes education is the key to success. Active as a Board member for United 4 Children, she volunteers at a local animal shelter and is an avid up-cycler. Please join us June 23rd for this very important and useful event.
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain awareness month. Go Purple is the Alzheimer’s Awareness campaign. Parkway’s Go Purple Day is June 23rd. We ask you to wear Purple to church and all day if possible. If they ask, tell people why. What’s good for the heart is good for the brain. Eat healthy, exercise, be social and learn new things. Someone new is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s every 65 seconds. Between 2000 and 2017 deaths from heart disease have decreased by 9% while deaths from Alzheimer’s disease have increased 145%.
