Holy Week at Parkway: April 13-20, 2025
Palm Sunday in the Sanctuary at 10am
Come wave your palms and place them in the cross as we feel the emotions of the day Jesus comes into the city to celebrate Passover. There is excitement among the people because of all the ways that Jesus spoke of love, fed and healed people and gave them hope.
There is also suspicion and fear among the leaders as Jesus was turning things upside down.
How does Jesus enter the city and what might his state of mind be as he arrives? How will we accompany him today and this week?
Monday Walk
Travel the Mercy Center Labyrinth anytime that works for you on Monday – dawn to dusk. Raining? BYOU (umbrella).
This ancient ritual can be enlightening and encouraging for our faith walk.
The Mercy Center is at 2039 N Geyer Rd 63131. Drive up the hill into the main parking lot and park on the far right. Look to the right – across the clearing – to see the Labyrinth. There is also a labyrinth next to church on the edge of our property with Missouri Baptist Hospital. Walk the natural incline at the northwest corner of our front parking lot… or drive Jennifer Lane to our lower lot (ask us if this is a mystery to you).

Maundy Thursday Worship in the Sanctuary at 7pm
Maundy comes from the root word of command and mandate – Jesus tells us to love one another. It’s like he knows we are in the Show Me State when he embodies this commitment in foot washing and in communion.
His love transforms. Jesus leads the way to faithful living.
How do we continue to feel this intimate connection?
We will celebrate communion and bless one another’s traveling shoes.
Good Friday Prayer Service in the Historic Sanctuary across the street at noon. Come to this sacred space where we will observe silence, sing and pray together. We will go with Jesus to the cross.
This is a more contemplative experience.
Good Friday Evening Worship in the Sanctuary at 7pm
Join us this dark night at the cross.
How did we get here? What are we able to see?
Add a nail to the cross at the start of the service as we recognize that we are complicit.
Remove a nail at the end of the service as we feel our own power to create a different future.
36-Hour Prayer Vigil from Good Friday evening through Easter morning. Sign up to take one of the hours as we observe this time alone and together.
Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at 6am in Elm Lawn Cemetery (behind the Historic Sanctuary).
We will feel the son rise and the sun rise together.
What were the women thinking as they went to the tomb with their spices, fears and prayers? What do they do after this remarkable resurrection experience?
Easter Sunday Worship in the Sanctuary at 10am…. followed by the Easter Egg Hunt.
Our long journey of Lent and Holy Week brings us to this splendid surprise.
Pick up a flower as you enter the sanctuary and place it in the cross where the palms and nails were during the week.
We have been traveling with Jesus every step of the way.
Where will he go next?
Where will we go?
++ All worship services are in person and on YouTube Live.
