Hope on the Horizon:
New treatments are in the pipeline. In addition to current treatments that address symptoms of Alzheimer’s, U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved treatments are now available that may help change the underlying biology of the disease.
Advances are bring made in the identification of biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease which can enable early detection of the brain changes of Alzheimer’s disease, giving those affected the opportunity to qualify for treatments and address modifiable risk factors that may slow cognitive decline. As of January 1, 2023 there were 156 clinical trials underway that show enormous promise for potential treatments that can change the future of Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
