January 2018 Worship Notes

January 7   Epiphany

Meditation   A great epiphany: I found out that I’m totally confused and I’m good with that. I’m consistently inconsistent. I’m all of the above. I’m OK. I’m a work in progress. That’s my next tattoo somewhere. – Ronnie Dunn

Introit

Scripture      Isaiah 60:1-6; Matthew 2:1-12

Scripture      1 Samuel 3:1-10; John 1:43-51

Anthem

Sermon        Can You Hear Me Now?

Jesus says ‘Follow me.’ Hearing the call to get up and go!

How do we listen to the call from the Holy and one another?

Theme         It wasn’t that Jonah didn’t hear God, he decided to ignore God and go in the opposite direction of where God called him to go. We have choices all the time as we consider which ways to go – and we can turn and return as well. How did the disciples discern whether or not to follow Jesus? Was does it mean to be ‘immediately’ as the Gospel says?
