After-Easter Vitality (and Pizza) at Parkway this Sunday

After-Easter Vitality (and Pizza) at Parkway this Sunday!
Dear Parkway members and friends:
We are continuing with exciting events at Parkway in the days following Easter, and hope that you will join us. Next Sunday, April 8, we will have a One Family Worship Service at 10 am, followed by a pizza luncheon with our Vitality Initiative consultant, Rev. John Wimberly of Washington, D.C.
This event will wrap up the planning portion of our Vitality Initiative and begin the implementation phase. The Vitality Planning Committee, Church Council, and commission conveners will meet with Rev. Wimberly on Saturday, primarily to prioritize strategies. At Sunday’s lunch, you are encouraged to be a part of the dialog with Rev. Wimberly about Parkway, our strategies, and how we can best carry them out. We expect an informative and stimulating discussion, as we had in our first all-church meeting with Rev. Wimberly last September.
As you will recall, the Vitality Initiative is Parkway’s response to the wider forces working on churches today, and make our mission and ministry as effective and vital as possible. A majority of our church members worked together in the fall to create a renewed purpose statement (below)and this spring we have been working on the goals (also below) and strategies that will bring those purposes to life.
Pizza will be provided for the lunch, and members who attend are invited to bring a salad or desserts – with the understanding that you are welcome whether you bring something or not!
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, and to working together thereafter, revitalized, to fulfill God’s calling to create a just world for all.
