Things will be just a little different this year, as we will be joining other folks from other UCC churches to help with the first day of the Blitz. We’ll need to provide 15 workers for Monday, April 30 to assemble and put up walls – WE STILL NEED 5-6 PEOPLE … . Registration at 5:30pm. Keynote speaker for  the gathering will be Rev. Richard L. Hamm, former General Minister and President of  the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada (1993-2003). Hamm has written and spoken extensively on the subject of church renewal. When his decade-long stint as the General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) concluded  in 2003, Hamm turned his energies to congregational renewal and vitality as a founding partner and past president of The Columbia Partnership. He was a leader in crafting the Disciples’ 2020 Vision, lifting up three marks of a faithful church: a deep Christian spirituality, true community, and a passion for justice. You may attend one or all of three sessions being offered. Each session will explore the topic of change, renewal and transformation from a slightly different perspective.

The first session (offered at First Congregational of Webster Groves 10:00am – noon) will be especially helpful to those working on or thinking about institutional issues such as the role of committees and models of organization that may better serve the mission and ministry of Christ. The second session (offered at First Congregational of Webster Groves 1:30-3:30pm) will provide an opportunity to reflect upon the leadership styles and methods best suited to bring about the new and creative spirit so necessary for today’s mainline congregations. This session will be of particular interest to clergy and lay leaders.

The third session (gathering at Ivy Chapel UCC 5:30-9:00pm) will excite and engage everyone as we continue to listen to and learn from Dr. Hamm. Food, fellowship and a lively exchange of ideas and feedback will mark this session.
