mental health workshopMental Health Ministry Workshop

Presented by Sarah Griffith Lund

Saturday, August 6 | 9:00-11:00am | Gathering Space

To tell the true story is to heal. That is the power of Christian testimony. Join Parkway for an inspiring and thought provoking conversation with guest preacher Rev. Dr. Sarah Griffith Lund, author of Blessed are the Crazy: Breaking the Silence about Mental Illness, Family and Church. Come and hear Sarah’s own personal story of her family’s struggle with mental illness, and how God showed up in the midst of it. Come and discuss the most common five lies that Christians tell about mental illness. Come and learn what we can do together to create a church that is welcoming, inclusive, supportive and engaged with mental health ministry. Sarah is the Vice President of Advancement for Christian Theological Seminary and the Vice Chair of the UCC Mental Health Network.

Chasing Ice 8/14

hqdefaultParkway Sustainability Seekers present: Chasing Ice

Sun, Aug 14 | 2:00pm | Heritage Room

Please join the Parkway Sustainability Seekers as we view Chasing Ice. This engaging and award-winning film follows photographer James Balog as he documents the world’s largest glaciers to see how they are evolving. As we follow Balog and his team, we are confronted with the dramatic changes glaciers are undergoing as climate change presents itself. Missouri Interfaith Power & Light will lead a brief discussion following the film to help us understand how people of faith can take action to help mitigate the effects of climate change and help preserve our one common home, Earth.
