September 25 | Meet @church 12:30pm | Eden Seminary

Once again Parkway will recruit walkers and solicit donations for the Church World Service CROP Hunger Walk at Eden Seminary on September 25. Our church goal this year is $2000. The Crop Hunger Walk raises funds to alleviate hunger around the world. With all the turmoil around the world right now, there is a huge need to feed millions of refugees. Church World Service is the avenue for churches to participate in this.

We are asking for members who are able to walk the one or three mile route through Webster Groves and secure financial sponsors who will donate in the walker’s name. All walkers who raise $100 or more will receive a Crop t-shirt. Parkway will award its top fund raiser with a special gift and recognition.

Walkers register online at www.crophungerwalk.org. Find Parkway in the list and either register or donate. There is also a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CropWalk 2016. Or you can sign up as a walker or donor on the poster in the Gathering Space and we will contact you with the details.

CROP is the hunger fighting wing of Church World Service which is supported by many denominations including the United Church of Christ. The Walk is ecumenical, interfaith and community wide, 25% of the funds raised stay in St. Louis.

For more information or for help with signing up to walk or sponsor talk with Sue Moellering, 636 949 2925 or susieqslp@sbcglobal.net

10-21-2015 Update:

Crop Hunger Walk Results

The Crop Hunger Walk was held on October 11 in Webster Groves.  Parkway had 31 walkers and raised $3,400 for Church World Service to equip farmers around the world to secure the tools, seeds and skills to support their families and sell their produce to their neighbors.  25% of the proceeds remain in St. Louis for use by Operation Food Search and Webster-Rock Hill Ministries.                 Parkway was the top fund raiser of all the churches and organizations in St. Louis.  Parkway member Karen Boyd raised the most funds of all the walkers in St. Louis ($1,690).  Thanks to all who walked and/or supported walkers!

10-8-2015 Update:

It’s not too late to fight hunger!

Crop Hunger Walk This Sunday (10/11)

Show your commitment to ending hunger in our country and the world! The Crop Walk to end hunger steps out at 1:30 on Sunday at Eden Seminary. Join the 13 Parkway members currently signed up to walk the one mile or three mile route. They already have sponsors for more than $1,200.

Or, sponsor one of these walkers by donating in their name. To walk or to donate go online to www.crophungerwalk.org. Once there, click on Missouri and then click on Metro St. Louis and then on Parkway UCC. Then you can choose to become a walker or to donate. You will find the names of all the Parkway walkers and you can select who you would like to sponsor. Then enter you credit card information. If you don’t want to do this online, simple make a check payable to CWS/CROP and give it or cash to your walker this Sunday.

The annual St. Louis Metro CROP Hunger Walk will take place at Eden Seminary on Sunday afternoon, October 11. Parkway will have a team of walkers who will recruit sponsors who will donate in the walker’s name to Church World Service to support programs to end hunger around the world. We need walkers and we need sponsors. Many of you will be contacted in the next couple of weeks to become a walker or a sponsor. There will be a signup sheet for walkers in the Gathering Space.
